A time for celebration at Vector Laboratories

Like many others, Vector Laboratories has used the past two years as an opportunity to reflect and enact changes. One of those major changes has been our rebranding, which if you are a frequent reader of our blog or visit our website often, you have seen these changes. Another substantial change has been our corporate headquarters relocation.

Driven by increased demand for Vector Laboratories’ growing areas of focus, glycomics, and proteomics, we opened our new headquarters in Newark, California in March, officially moving over in May. The property underwent an interior buildout to transform it into a 41,000-square-foot facility to enhance the company’s research and development capabilities, including new laboratory and office space. Key COVID-19 protection measures were also considered in the construction, including a powerful HVAC system upgrade to provide single-pass air in manufacturing areas, and lab and office areas that are visible to each other but still allow space for physical distancing.

This month, we used the nearing end of the quarter as an opportunity to not only celebrate the relocation but to learn more about some of our customers, volunteer initiatives, and our new community, Newark, that the company now calls home. Hearing from city representatives, we learned that Newark life sciences companies have more than doubled in number since 2018 to a total of 35. The city offers employees amenities and services from a great fitness and aquatic center, conveniently located directly across the street from Vector Laboratories, to the extensive Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge and many restaurants and childcare programs.

In addition to learning more about the new community, the celebration was the first time in over two years that all employees, remote and in-person, gathered together. For many remote employees, this was the first time being on location as well as meeting others in person. Coming together over a catered BBQ meal, employees enjoyed conversations with teams they had never met before, partook in raffles and trivia, and received a company swag bag full of items to represent Vector Laboratories.

We are focused on cultivating strong and meaningful connections in the work we do every day, so we hope you enjoyed a quick glimpse into the Vector Laboratories community. If you’re interested in joining our team, you can see open positions on our career page.
