Glucose Oxidase

Endogenous glucose oxidase activity does not exist in mammalian tissues so the gluocse oxidase system can be used when endogenous peroxidases or alklaine phosphatases interfere with specific staining, and blocking of that endogenous enzyme activity is ineffective or would destroy antigenic determinants.  Of the three enzymatic detection systems (peroxidase, alkaline phosphatase, glucose oxidase), this enzyme system is the least sensitive.
