Division Controller 

Job Description 

 

The Division Controller is responsible for performing and managing the accounting and internal control functions for Vector Laboratories, located in Burlingame, CA, a business unit of Maravai Life Sciences. This position is also required to support the accounting and internal control functions for other Maravai Business Units. This position reports to the Corporate Controller.

This individual reports operational results under GAAP, ensures internal control compliance, provides detailed financial analysis and advice to business leadership, and assesses line of business operating results in terms of costs, budgets, forecast, operating policies, trends and improved profit opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day accounting leadership of transactions, policies, controls, and procedures
  • Ensures accurate and complete financial records and reporting, in compliance with legal requirements and US GAAP standards.
  • Lead, review, train and mentor staff accountant and other accounting and admin staff responsible for accounts payable, expense reports, payroll, sales commissions, sales order entry, invoicing, revenue recognition, collections, fixed assets and bank reconciliations.
  • Support sales team in preparation of customer proposals, customer requirements for set-up and compliance with their PO and invoice submission systems.
  • Deliver budget variance analysis and other management reports. Work with departmental managers and leads to review and forecast expenses and headcount.
  • Perform technical research and document key accounting policies.
  • Responsible for timely month-end close and financial reporting
  • Manage income tax compliance for federal and state and sales and use tax reporting and filing.
  • Identify and lead reporting improvements to systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Responsible for periodic financial audits and relationships with external auditors
  • Cash management
  • Other projects and tasks, as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA desired
  • 8 years of relevant professional experience. Public accounting and industry. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reporting and compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • High personal integrity and strong work ethic. Excellent writing/documentation skills.
  • Ability to operate with substantial latitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with NetSuite, Sage and Quickbooks preferred
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Senior Accountant

Job Description

 

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing accounting tasks for Vector Laboratories located in Burlingame, CA, a business unit of Maravai Life Sciences. This position is also responsible for performing accounting tasks for other Maravai Business Units. This position reports to the Division Controller.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, Cost Accounting, Revenue Recognition, Accounting Processes & Procedures, and Controls and Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure GAAP compliance through invoicing and revenue recognition
  • Prepare monthly deferred revenue entries and monthly revenue entries
  • Ensure GAAP compliance through A/P bill coding and processing
  • Timely completion of month end process including preparation of journal entries, accounts reconciliation and preparing supporting schedules
  • Perform account reconciliations
  • Perform month‐end inventory audit and reconciliation
  • Perform gross margin analysis, standard cost review and analysis, BOMs/ECOs review and cost allocation
  • Perform variance analysis and have the ability to identify anomalies
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and participate in financial review meetings

Technical Support Specialist

Job Description

 

Position Summary

The Technical Support Specialist’s primary responsibility will be to provide product and application expertise, insight and troubleshooting assistance for all Vector Laboratories’ reagents to researchers across the life sciences fields and to our distributors worldwide. Also, as a member of the commercial team, the Technical Support Specialist will help in the generation of technical material and marketing content to support promotional activities and campaigns, as well as represent the company at conferences, meetings and vendor shows.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, a creative thinker and a problem solver who enjoys direct interaction with people.  He/she will be a team player with strong communication, organizational, and time management skills. Previous experience in a technical support role in a life science company would be beneficial.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Provide prompt and accurate technical support via phone and electronically to customers, domestic and international, encompassing all aspects of pre- and post-sales product use, application advice, troubleshooting and complaint handling.
  • Generate and maintain precise entries in the technical service database.
  • Collaborate with internal company departments and individuals to answer and solve customer inquiries and issues.
  • Contribute to the product knowledge database through customer inquiries and feedback.
  • Assist in writing and generating marketing collateral such as product flyers, technical data sheets, product specification sheets, brochures, graphics and digital web/email/social media content.
  • Provide feedback regarding competitive products and related information.
  • Provide a positive customer experience.
  • Represent company at life science vendor shows and conferences.
  • Present technical training seminars to internal and external stakeholders.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or related life science field required.  Advanced degree (MS, PhD) preferred.

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ hands-on experience with techniques such as immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and related histological methods.
  • Experience in a histology core facility a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ELISAs, blotting, flow cytometry and nucleic acid applications.
  • Knowledge of the global life science reagent market and products.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a group, to accomplish department and company-wide objectives.
  • Independently resolve and close customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Previous technical support experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM tools is a plus.

Marketing Manager

Job description

 

Position Summary

The Marketing Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of global marketing plans to drive awareness and customer engagement with a specific focus on campaign / promotional planning and execution of the global go-to-market strategy to drive revenue growth. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing you will have responsibility for driving revenue growth, customer engagement & lead generation, marketing budget oversight, support of digital marketing channels and building brand equity.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Develop and execute tactical marketing plans to support short and long-term business objectives including revenue growth in key channels, product lines and customer segments.
  • Develop messaging and tools that communicate the value/brand directly to customers through best practice utilization of traditional and digital marketing channels.
  • Perform VOC/competitor analysis to identify new market trends/opportunities and use this information to impact business/market development strategy and drive a sustainable advantage.
  • Track financial/market goals and provide detailed analysis & routine reporting around business performance metrics.
  • Work with internal marcom and liaise with external media organizations agencies to develop campaign requirements, content and creative.
  • Support portfolio management activities including rationalization & pricing.
  • Provide support to distributor & business development team for implementation of programs to drive lead generation and awareness activities to meet revenue goals.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience in consumable/reagent marketing required, experience in protein labeling and detection products and applications such as IHC, flow cytometry and western blotting preferred.
  • Experience with web, social media, marketing automation and Salesforce® tools for digital marketing
  • Experience in developing & executing in-bound marketing strategies with an emphasis on digital marketing technologies to support the portfolio (existing products and new product launches)
  • Proven track record of delivering revenue growth and building fully integrated global marketing campaigns
  • Deep understanding and experience of optimizing marketing channel / promotional mix to meet growth objectives
  • Able to develop strong value propositions/messaging consistent with customer needs

 Quality Control Analyst, Histology Specialist

Job description

 

Position Summary

The Quality Control Analyst, Histology Specialist, is responsible for maintaining the paraffin and frozen tissue section supplies required for both the Quality Control and Research & Development departments. This position is also responsible for the analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, finished goods, and stability samples following established operating procedures, and may also analyze samples from the research and development department using established testing procedures.   S/he may also be responsible for organizing and maintaining laboratory reagents/supplies. The individual must have sound judgment, be self-motivated, and possess the social skills necessary to work well with colleagues.  

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Section & mount serial sections of paraffin embedded tissues using a rotary microtome
  • Section and mount using a manual cryostat
  • Maintain microtomy instruments
  • Perform experiments according to established procedures, interpret test results, compare results to established specifications and control limits, and make decisions on sample performance
  • Program and run experiments on the Biocare Intellipath Autostainer
  • Calibrate, validate, and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Prepare and/or maintain necessary inventories of laboratory reagents
  • Complete all documentation needed to support testing procedures
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe laboratory environment
  • Monitor quality testing protocols to ensure that all tests all performed according to established operating procedures

 

Education

BS Degree in Histotechnology, Life Science, Biochemistry or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of related laboratory experience, prior histotechnology experience a plus
  • Adaptability to change and learn new procedures and techniques
  • Able to clearly communicate ideas, reasoning, and conclusions to a varied audience & productively interact with diverse personalities and backgrounds
  • Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints while maintaining a high level of work quality
