 QC Manager


Position Description

Position Title:  QC Manager

Department:  Quality Control 

Reports to:  Director of Quality Control


General Position Summary

Vector Laboratories is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, goal-oriented QC Manager to join our QC team.  The QC Manager will report to the Director of QC and coordinate and manage the daily activities of the QC department. S/he is responsible for ensuring that raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods are tested in compliance with Vector’s Quality Management System.  S/he is responsible for the review and approval of all QC testing, results and documentation.  This position is hands-on and requires bench work as well as team management. Experience in immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays is highly desirable.  The individual must have sound judgment, be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and possess the social skills necessary to work in a diverse environment.


Essential Job Functions

  • Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the QC team
  • Coordinate testing schedule with the manufacturing department to meet product release deadlines
  • Review and approve all QC tests, results and documentation before product disposition
  • Release and disposition raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods
  • Perform QC assays according to established procedures
  • Ensure departmental training and compliance with pertinent documentation
  • Draft new documents and revisions as necessary
  • Participate in non-conformance investigations.
  • Provide for and document the development and training of QC staff
  • Support a positive and productive work environment
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe laboratory environment


Essential Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Minimum BS/BA in Histotechnology, Life Sciences, Biochemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years Quality Control/Quality Assurance experience with knowledge of immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent techniques.
  • Minimum of 2 years of managerial experience required

  • Strong leadership skills to manage the team and maintain morale in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize task and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong command of Quality Management Systems and ISO Standards
  • Skilled at data analysis and summarizing results
  • Able to establish meaningful performance metrics to drive process and departmental improvements. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints while maintaining a high level of quality
  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse personalities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
