The VECTREX^® matrix is optimized for immobilization of nucleic acids. This matrix consists of particles of a highly cross-linked sugar polymer that has a very large surface area and low nonspecific binding for nucleic acids. Unlike agarose, which may retain small molecules in its pores, the VECTREX^®v particle will retain molecules only through specific affinity interaction on the surface of the particles. The VECTREX^® matrix is dense and sediments readily even without centrifugation.
