Functional Aspects:
Synaptophysin is found in neuronal presynaptic vesicles in
brain, spinal cord, retina and similar vesicles of the adrenal
medulla, and in neuromuscular junctions. It is also expressed
in a wide spectrum of neuroendocrine tumors. Both clone
27G12 and clone SP11 were made using a synthetic peptide
corresponding to a region near the C-terminus of the
synaptophysin molecule.
